Neighborhood Notice
In the past two weeks there have been several incidents within Chadds Ridge we want to make all homeowners aware of. The following incidents have occurred:
- A neighbor saw a suspicious car driving through the neighborhood and taking pictures on Thursday, September 9th. The Chevrolet sedan circled a cul-de-sac and seemed to be occupied by two teen aged boys. They stopped in front of a home and took pictures.
- Wednesday, September 15th there were two vehicles broken into on the pool side of Helga Way . A GPS, purse and a backpack were stolen.
- There have been several mailboxes damaged during the night by vandals.
- Friday, September 24th – a home was broken into and robbed on Jamie Way Friday night. The thieves broke in through a window and took everything of value right out the front door. They made off with all electronics.
- Local Woodstock Police Department Warning (not a local incident within Chadds Ridge at this time that we are aware of) – A male and female posing as ADT salesmen with ADT shirts and driving a 4 door passenger car has been reported going door to door. These individuals are providing a roughly designed and copied letter sized black & white flyer, while asking suspicious questions about the homeowners. If you observe these individuals or anyone suspicious please call 9-1-1 immediately. Surrounding agencies have had similar reports as well. ADT advises that their sales representatives, who are in the area working, will have ADT ID badges, ID cards, ADT pamphlets, and ADT literature.
The Chadds Ridge board has placed a call into our Local Cobb County Police Department requesting that we have cruisers patrolling our neighborhood for the next few weeks.
Neighborhood Watch
We need your help! If you see anything going on in your community that you feel needs to be addressed, please either contact the Police or the Non Emergency Police Dispatch Number (770) 499-3911. Please call and report any suspicious behavior to this number.
What you can do:
Increase your use of good crime prevention techniques: awareness, alertness and avoidance.
- Make sure that all doors are kept locked at all times.
- Windows should be closed and locked anytime that you are not in your home or anytime at night. Many burglars, and worse, have easily entered homes through open windows while the home’s occupants sleep.
- Lighting, both inside and outside of your home, is one of the best and most economical deterrents for burglars. Indoor lighting gives the impression that a home is occupied while outdoor lighting diminishes places to hide.
- Have the post office hold your mail and put your newspapers on vacation hold while you are away.
- Consider installing a security system.
- Do not discuss private details with anyone who comes to your door trying to sell something or wanting information. Tell them to leave their card or other contact information on your front steps or porch and do not open the door until long after they have gone.
- Watch out for your neighbors. If you see someone or something that doesn’t seem right take a closer look.
- Always lock your cars, and do not leave valuables in the car.
